Calvin graduated from the University of Alabama, magna cum laude, in 1978, with a BS in Management, and from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1981, with a Juris Doctorate. He has practiced law in Decatur since 1981, concentrating in the areas of probate and real estate law, handling over a thousand real estate related transactions per year.
Calvin is married to Jennifer and has 4 beautiful children. He has coached his children's youth baseball and basketball teams all of their lives and is a volunteer assistant varsity and junior high basketball coach at Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, which is a regular in the Alabama State 1A playoffs.
He is an Associate Member of the Morgan County Association of Realtors, a Member of the American Bar Association, Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, Member of the Alabama Bar Association, Member of Morgan County Bar Association, and is past Secretary / Treasurer of the Morgan County Bar Association. He is also presently acting as local counsel for Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, Alabama, handling all of the closings on homes built for Habitat clients, and is a past member of the local Board of Directors for Habitat. Calvin is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Decatur Homebuilders Association, past Chairman of the Advisory Board for the North Alabama Better Business Bureau, past member of the North Alabama Board of Directors of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, on the Board of Trustees of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, and is a Bible school teacher and Deacon at the Beltline Church of Christ.
